It was only a week ago that we announced that Mindy Alper would illustrate Norm and Burny. What a week! She is working day and night, and has showered us with incredible images. Her art will completely transform the book.
Our working relationship with Mindy is NOT the usual illustrator-author linkage. She has become part of the story. Scenes we have only imagined are coming to life, and in some cases are showing us that we didn’t have it quite right, or quite complete. Yes, Mindy’s art has already inspired last-minute revisions, and will undoubtedly inspire more.
We certainly don’t intend to publish all her drawings on this blog. They are an integral part of the story, and belong with it. For this particular illustration, I’m willing to make an exception. It tugs on my heart and asks to be shared, and is Peggy’s personal favorite. If you’d like to know how this wintery scene is related to Norm and Burny, you’ll simply have to read the book. We think you should be able to buy it from Amazon before Thanksgiving. It will include nearly two dozen illustrations.
Thank you, Mindy!
